Most rings are bought a size wrong. Fingers swell through the day and again through summer, so a band that slides on at 8 AM can be tight by evening - which is why a large part of this range is open-banded. The gap at the back lets one ring cover several sizes, and lets the same ring move between fingers as your hands change.
The rest of the decision is about survival. A ring takes more contact than anything else you wear: keyboards, handbag straps, a laptop lid closing on it. Height is what fails first - a tall setting catches on everything. Low, rounded profiles last longer.
Open bands adjust, so they suit gifting and hands that change size through the day. Closed bands sit more precisely and do not shift while typing. If you are unsure of a size, choose open.
For daily wear, keep settings low and edges rounded. Taller stones photograph beautifully and snag on knitwear, handbag linings and hair. Save them for occasions.
Two or three slim bands stack more comfortably than one wide band plus a slim one. Match the widths and the stack sits flat instead of rocking.
Index and middle fingers carry statement shapes; ring and little fingers suit slim bands. One ring on an otherwise bare hand reads as deliberate - three scattered across both hands rarely does.
