How to choose bracelets

A bracelet is the piece your own hands notice. It sits where your wrist meets a desk, a keyboard, a steering wheel and a sleeve, so fit and clearance matter more here than at the ear or the neck.

The choice is mostly cuff versus chain. A cuff holds its shape and stays still; a chain moves and drapes. Neither is dressier - they behave differently, and that is the thing to match to your day.

Cuff or chain

Cuffs slide on and stay put, which suits typing and driving. Chains follow the wrist and layer well, but they also travel under a sleeve and catch on shirt cuffs.

Measure the wrist, not the hand

Wrap a tape just below the wrist bone and add roughly a centimetre for comfort. An open cuff forgives a size; a fixed chain does not.

Sleeve clearance

If you wear shirts or fitted kurtas, keep the profile flat. Anything raised drags on the fabric all day and is the first thing to catch.

Stacking

Two pieces of different weights read better than two of the same. A flat cuff with a fine chain has contrast; two identical chains just look like one thicker chain.

How do I find my bracelet size?

Measure around the wrist just below the bone with a tape or a strip of paper, then add about a centimetre. Open cuffs adjust within a range, so exact numbers matter less.

Will it survive daily wear at a desk?

Flat, low-profile pieces do. Anything raised takes constant contact against a desk edge, which is where wear shows first.

Can I wear it in water?

Take it off. A bracelet meets more soap, chlorine and salt water than any other piece, and none of it does the finish any favours.

Can I wear a bracelet with a watch?

On the same wrist, keep it fine and let the watch lead - anything substantial will knock against the case all day. On the opposite wrist you have room for a cuff.
